About us
TheHumanBehind is a trust registry where real people declare their AI avatars, clones and voices, and put their name behind them. It is independent, voluntary, and built to be checked. Registering is free and private; a verified record is what becomes public.
On 2 August 2026, the transparency obligations of the European AI Act (Article 50) become generally applicable. Whoever publishes AI-generated or manipulated content that could pass as authentic, a deepfake, must disclose it visibly.
The law demands transparency, but it does not create any public place to put a name on record. That gap is why this registry exists: an independent, voluntary place where responsibility is declared before it is questioned.

The registry opens: registration is free
Everyone starts registered. Verification is the step you take when a real, confirmed identity behind your name is worth it.
A free, private, dated declaration: you state that an avatar is yours and accept responsibility for it. It's a private record of standing only you can see. The green fingerprint says a name is on record, and the sealed date proves who was first. Registering does not publish anything.
When verification opens, an identity check by Stripe Identity confirms that a real human stands behind the record. Everything registered stays exactly as it was; the fingerprint simply turns gold.

We store the minimum the record needs. Never your ID document; your email is never public.
Verified records are public by design: free search, an open API and a public hash recipe. Evidence that does not require taking our word for it.

TheHumanBehind does not decide what is true, does not settle disputes and does not certify that anyone obeys the law. It records who is willing to answer for an AI, with a date and a fingerprint, and makes that record free to check. That is all it claims to be, and we would rather say so than oversell it.
