The fingerprint is the seal of TheHumanBehind. Green means registered: a dated self-declaration, private to you. Gold means verified: a real human confirmed behind it, on public record. This page is the anatomy of both.

Everything Registered contains, plus an identity check by Stripe Identity confirming that a real human stands behind the record, which then becomes public. The word Verified is reserved for this level, no exceptions.

The words are part of the design.The free level is always called Registered, never “verified”. And neither state is an official certification: the seal is public, checkable evidence, not a government accreditation.

GET /api/v0/records/laia.jsonIf you see the fingerprint somewhere, the record behind it must exist in the registry. If you cannot find it, do not trust it.
Only records that pass the identity check show the gold fingerprint. No exceptions.
The hash recipe is public. Recompute it, or ask the API: checking is free and needs no account.
It does not by itself fulfil legal obligations, and it is not an official certification. It puts responsibility on record: that's its job.
