Verification
Verification is the second level of the registry, and it is not open yet. It confirms that a real human is behind a record and upgrades its seal from green to gold. Everything on this page describes how the level will work; the finer details are confirmed at launch.
The two levels

The naming rule is deliberate and strict: the free level is always Registered, never “verified”. The gold word is earned, not given.
How verification will work
Section titled “How verification will work”- From a registered record, you start the identity check from your dashboard.
- You complete the check with Stripe Identity, entirely on Stripe’s side. TheHumanBehind never sees or stores your document.
- Stripe returns a pass or fail. On a pass, the registry marks the record verified, records the date, and stores a reference to the Stripe session.
- The record’s seal turns gold and its
verification_levelbecomesverified, visible on the page and in the API.
What the check verifies
Section titled “What the check verifies”The identity check is performed by Stripe Identity, a specialised provider used by thousands of companies. It confirms that the person completing the check is a real human with a valid government ID. The Human Behind does not build or operate identity-verification technology of its own. The check runs entirely on Stripe’s side.
Your ID document is never stored by the registry. After the check, TheHumanBehind keeps only three things: verified yes/no, the date, and a reference to the Stripe verification session. Nothing else, and never the document, the photo or any biometric data.
What changes in your record
Section titled “What changes in your record”verification_levelbecomesverifiedandverified_atrecords the date, both visible on the public page and in the API.- The record shows the gold seal instead of the green one.
- Everything else stays exactly the same: the THB number, the registration date and your slug are immutable. Verification adds to your record; it never rewrites it.
Registering is free. Checking a verified record is free for anyone, always. The terms of verification will be announced before it opens: see the verification page.
Sensitive scopes
Section titled “Sensitive scopes”A record may declare a sensitive scope (health,
finance, legal) when the avatar gives guidance on
health, money or law. The registry shows that scope, it does not check it:
it is a declaration by the responsible party, like the rest of the record, and
it is there so a reader knows what the avatar speaks about and with what weight.
Verification checks identity, and only identity. It does not evidence degrees or professional registrations: that is done by the relevant professional body, not by us.
What the seal is, and is not
Section titled “What the seal is, and is not”The Verified seal is TheHumanBehind’s own trust mark: it attests that the registry ran an identity check on the person behind the record. It is not an official certification, a public accreditation or a government mark of any kind, and it does not by itself certify compliance with any law. It says one clear thing: a real, identified human stands behind this record.

Section titled “Do I have to verify?”No. Registering is free. Checking a verified record is free for anyone, always. Verification is optional; it adds a stronger signal to a record, it never replaces the free level.
Is my ID document stored?
Section titled “Is my ID document stored?”No. The identity check runs on Stripe’s side. The registry keeps only whether you passed, the date, and a reference to the Stripe session. Never the document itself.
Does verifying change my THB number or hash?
Section titled “Does verifying change my THB number or hash?”No. The registry number, the registration date and the slug are immutable, and verification never touches them: it adds fields, it does not rewrite the sealed ones.
Is the gold seal an official certification?
Section titled “Is the gold seal an official certification?”No. It is TheHumanBehind’s own trust mark. It is not a government mark or a public accreditation, and it does not by itself certify compliance with any law.
